Administrative Judge André Monty of the Régie du logement confirmed that the newly adopted Bill 492 prohibiting the repossession of a dwelling from an elderly tenant in no way prevents an owner from terminating a lease for another reason. The owner’s request to terminate the lease and evict the tenant was however rejected due to lack of evidence that the tenant caused the owner harm.
