CORPIQ unveils its survey on vacancy rates

CORPIQ surveyed its members in the second week of July to find out the vacancy rate for private apartments in Quebec. Some 25,000 dwellings were reported by 1,182 landlords who own between one and hundreds units located in all regions of Quebec. Laval had the lowest vacancy rate at 1.1%, while the Laurentians had the highest rate in the province at 4.5%.

In the Centre-du-Québec, it was 1.5%, while on the Island of Montreal it was 1.7%.

For the Outaouais, the proportion of vacant dwellings was 1.9%, 2.1% in Estrie, 2.4% in Montérégie (including the South Shore of Montreal) and at 2.7% in the Lanaudière. In the Capitale-Nationale (Quebec) region, the rate was 2.8%, followed the regions of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, at 3.1% * and Côte-Nord / Nord-du-Québec, at 3.2% *.

In the Mauricie, Bas-Saint-Laurent-Gaspésie, Chaudière-Appalaches and Laurentians regions, the percentage of vacant dwellings ranged from 4.3 to 4.5%. It is the highest in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean * at 7.6%.

Unlike the CMHC statistics published in November, the CORPIQ survey also includes all dwellings located in duplexes and triplexes.
