Promise to further reduce school taxes

The CAQ reiterates its intention to apply a single tax rate to all of Québec, based on the lowest rate. It is currently 10.54 cents per $ 100 of property assessment and is applied in the Laurentians.

Announced during the election campaign by the head of the CAQ François Legault, this measure aims to save 700 million dollars over 4 years. It should also be followed by a school tax freeze for the duration of the mandate assigned to them by Quebeckers.

In June, the Liberal government passed a bill downgrading school tax rates in the same region for a bill of $ 670 million. The CAQ wanted a single rate to avoid regional disparities.
