IMMO 2024, a new edition focused on solutions for the future of the rental sector

A rich and diversified program

This year, our renowned speakers and panelists addressed a multitude of topics essential to real estate owners, managers and investors. Highlights included a presentation of the outlook and challenges facing the rental market in Quebec, the impact of the economic and regulatory situation on the market, and a sharing of trends and emerging issues in real estate innovation and sustainability.

The day's events culminated in a discussion with the Minister responsible for housing, Madame France-Élaine Duranceau. While the province of Quebec has the highest number of renters (40% of households), and the most affordable rental housing stock of all Canadian provinces, this exchange provided an opportunity to review the short and medium-term challenges facing landlords. We would like to warmly thank the Minister for this opportunity to exchange views. We are convinced that the housing crisis calls for a balance in the solutions and tools put in place. A balance that will also make relations between tenants and landlords more fluid - as our Chairman reminded us in his introductory speech.

“For several months now, CORPIQ has been working in concert with all stakeholders, respecting and collaborating with everyone. The coming months will be an opportunity for us to continue this work with the government, opposition parties, municipalities and associations.” Joël Chareyron, Chairman of the Board of CORPIQ.

The long-term future of rental properties at the heart of discussions

Focusing on the challenges ahead, this event highlighted the concerns of landlords and experts alike, including the renovation of existing housing stock. In the face of global warming, one of our panels looked at ways of adapting our building stock, and at solutions for improving the energy efficiency of housing to ensure a sustainable living environment for tenants. This issue will be one of CORPIQ's priorities. Today, we need to start thinking about how to remove the obstacles to renovating our rental housing stock for the benefit of all - as demonstrated by the Léger survey conducted among our members.

Many thanks to our partners and participants

The success of this event, organized by CORPIQ in collaboration with PMML, would not have been possible without the contribution of our partners, speakers and participants, to whom we extend our warmest thanks. Their expertise and commitment made this event a privileged moment for sharing and reflection.
