The bonus financing is intended for owners of multi-unit dwellings in areas that have been designated “energy insecure.” It applies to the installation of ENERGY STAR®-certified wall-mounted heat pumps for cold climates and provides financial assistance that is 83% higher than the current grant available under the LogisVert Efficient Homes Program’s heat pump measure. The grant will increase from $120 to $220 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C, provided all requirements are met.
To be eligible, the building must:
- Have two or more residential units
- Have been built in 1995 or earlier
- Be located in an area that is designated “energy insecure”
All criteria and eligible zones are listed on the website.
Why choose heat pumps?
In residential buildings, heating accounts for more than 50% of electricity use in the winter, and heat pumps are one of the most effective ways to reduce electricity use and improve comfort.
Heat pumps offer a range of key benefits. They are up to three times more efficient than electric baseboard heaters during the heating season. What’s more, a single system provides efficient heating in winter and cooling in summer while maintaining more stable indoor temperatures. Heat pumps are among the most effective solutions to reduce electricity use in winter without compromising comfort.
Benefits for tenants include the fact that heat pumps help make homes more comfortable and better adapted to temperature variations and help reduce their electricity bill.
For owners, this new offer provides an opportunity to modernize your buildings, enhance your image, improve your energy performance and add long-term value to your building inventory.
How to apply
Once the heat pumps have been installed, go to the LogisVert Efficient Homes Program website and submit your application via the portal by selecting the heat pump measure. If you are eligible, the bonus financing will be applied automatically.
If you wish to know if you are eligible prior to purchasing the heat pump, and also find out how much you would be entitled to receive, click here (website only available in French) to answer a few questions to determine whether you meet the criteria regarding the bonus financing.
