Lease assignment and subletting: Rights and obligations

During the course of a lease, it is not uncommon for a tenant to wish to leave their dwelling before its expiry. Purchasing a property, separation, a new job, or any other change in situation: several reasons can lead to a lease assignment or subletting. The Civil Code of Québec governs these procedures and provides specific rules that must be followed.

During this webinar, you will discover:

  • the differences between lease assignment and subletting;
  • the applicable deadlines and rules;
  • the changes made on February 21, 2024, with the coming into force of Bill 31;
  • the documents to use;
  • the possible remedies in the event of a dispute.

Important: The webinar recording will be accessible in the days following its live broadcast, in CORPIQ's Member Area.
